Valentines Day
I was kind of sick with another sinus infection over Valentines weekend so we didn't do much. Jay and I did attend our Stake's annual Adult dinner and dance. Kelsie went with us because it was for all adults over age 18. She made it home just in time to go with us. The food was great and they had a them "Dancing with the Saints" where they asked a couple from each ward to perform a dance. Many of the wards didn't have participants, but those that did, did a wonderful job. We had a hawaiian dance, swing dances, and one lady who was probably in her 70's came out and did a dance to a song that was from her era. It was fun to watch her. She really got down and boogied!! When it came time to turn the dancing over to everyone else, we left because I really wasn't feeling all that well and certainly not to dance, which if you know me, that was hard to sit there and not move to the music.
Valentines Day I felt a little better. Cupid had come the night before and decorated the house with hearts, streamers, and foil hanging hearts. The kids really enjoy this. It has become a tradition for the past at least 6 or so years. It was easy for Cupid to decorate when they were younger and their bedrooms even got decorated because they went to bed on time, but now as they have gotten older, they stay up way past Cupid's bedtime and only the house and their bedroom door gets decorated. It's fun.
We also had our traditional valentines day dinner by candlelight as a family. In the past i have made pink pancakes and waffles with strawberries and pink eggs, but we weren't feeling breakfast this year so we went with steak and potatoes. YUM!!! Ta'kara also joined us while her parents went out to dinner.
These are some traditions that I hope to keep as the kids get older and maybe try when they have their own families.
District Eagle Recognition Dinner
We were invited to the annual eagle dinner that recognizes all the boys in the district who received their eagle award this past year. There were a lot of boys that received them this past year which is great!! We are so proud that Kalin received his Eagle award last year. He put a lot of hard work and effort into receiving this award.
We ate a nice dinner, had a program and then each of the boys received a neckerchief and a nice plaque. Great job Kalin!!!!
