Playing tourist

The kids were gone camping with their dad for the 24th this year so we weren't sure what we were going to do. I didn't really want to stay home because Kanab doesn't do too much for the 24th except for a parade and a few games at the church parking lot.

Our weekend started out with going out to dinner with a few friends. We haven't been able to go out with friends so when they called us we decided to stay in town another night and go to dinner with them. We also played Phase 10 after dinner at our house. It was fun.

The next morning we were deciding whether or not to go to the parade. Parades just aren't any fun without kids. Since my kids were gone, we went and kidnapped Boog (Ta'Kara) from her parents and took her to the parade with us. She loved it. We took the double folding chair that Kierra and Kennedie used to sit in with us and that is where Ta'Kara and her baby sat to watch the parade - only she wanted her baby on her lap the entire parade. She sat through the entire parade without getting up once. She was content just to sit there and watch the parade with her baby and a sucker they threw to her. She is hilarious and always makes us laugh!! After taking Ta'Kara back to her mom, we headed to St. George. We had tickets that night to see Footloose. We thought we were going to get rained out because it had started raining an hour before the show and kept raining until about two miles from the theater and never rained again. Although there was thunder and lightning all around us, we only got a few sprinkles and much cooler temperatures which we were very thankful for. The show was great as always! If any of you watch Channel 4 or Good Things UTah, Niesha was there which was kind of cool. I walked past her and thought to myself "She looks really familiar" AFter a few minutes, I finally figured it out. She is probably my favorite one on the show.

We spent the night in St. George and then decided to go home through Zion Canyon - much prettier drive home. We took the shuttle up the canyon and got off on the last stop along with everybod else-Temple of Sinawa. We decided this was probably the easiest hike and the most coolest as it was close to 95 degrees outside. I would not recommend hiking in Zion during the summer ever. Those that hike Angels Landing in the summer time are CRAZY!! Temple of Sinawa hike wasn't too bad and it had lots of shady spots to stop and get cooled off and best of all it ended at the river where the hiking the narrows start.

Zion Canyon is so pretty. We have both been there numerous times and it always seems to amaze me how beautiful it is. We are so lucky to have all this beauty right here in our back yard. So many people come so far away to see what we have here. We take it for granted, I know I do. So after playing tourist, we came home. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Kids - hope you had a good time camping!!!

There were a lot of squirrels in the park. They would come right up to you. We saw this one on our way back on the trail. He was sitting in the shade on the sand with his legs sprawled out cooling off. It was really funny I had to take a picture and of course, he just layed there.
